Kit is the
gnome-de-plume
of Chris Wareham.
A "gnome-de-plume" is a small, mischievous little sprite which delights in stealing and hiding pens, they were first recorded by Coleridge and De Quincey, although the French name was first coined by Baudelaire; this however has now been revised as experts feel he was confusing the creature with an absinthe "Green Fairy".
